**Mumbai, India:** The Khar Gymkhana has revoked the membership of Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, citing misuse of membership privileges by her father, Ivan Rodrigues. The decision was made unanimously during the Gymkhana’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), following complaints from several members.
The controversy stems from prayer meetings held at the Gymkhana, which were reportedly labelled as “conversion meetings” in recent media reports. Rodrigues, in a statement, vehemently denied these allegations, emphasizing that the gatherings adhered strictly to the Gymkhana’s procedures and were open to all.
“These meetings were held in complete accordance with the procedures of the Khar Gymkhana, and in full knowledge of the office bearers,” he stated. “They were in no way ‘conversion meetings’ as is wrongly labelled in the media.”
Rodrigues further explained that they stopped holding the meetings immediately after being requested to do so by the Gymkhana. He also clarified that any discrepancies in payment were resolved promptly.
Expressing his disappointment over the “misleading information” circulating in the media, Rodrigues asserted his family’s commitment to respecting the rules and practices of the Khar Gymkhana.
