Thu Oct 17 16:25:53 UTC 2024: ## Omar Abdullah Appoints Close Confidant as Advisor in Key Move
**SRINAGAR** – Following his swearing-in as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah has appointed Nasir Aslam Wani as his Advisor. The appointment, announced late Monday evening, is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the new administration.
Wani, a former MLA who represented the Lal Chowk constituency, lost the 2024 elections to PDP candidate Fayaz Mir. Despite the setback, he remains a close confidant of Omar Abdullah and holds significant influence within the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC).
The appointment order, issued under Government Order No. 1783-JK(GAD) of 2024, designates Wani as Advisor to the Chief Minister with terms and conditions to be specified later. The order was signed by Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, and circulated to key government officials and departments.
Wani’s elevation to this advisory role comes at a pivotal moment for the Omar Abdullah-led administration as they navigate political and administrative challenges in the region. His experience and close ties with the Chief Minister are expected to be instrumental in shaping policy decisions and governance in the coming months.
