**SRINAGAR** – Following his swearing-in as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah has appointed Nasir Aslam Wani as his Advisor. The appointment, announced late Monday evening, is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the new administration.

Wani, a former MLA who represented the Lal Chowk constituency, lost the 2024 elections to PDP candidate Fayaz Mir. Despite the setback, he remains a close confidant of Omar Abdullah and holds significant influence within the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC).

The appointment order, issued under Government Order No. 1783-JK(GAD) of 2024, designates Wani as Advisor to the Chief Minister with terms and conditions to be specified later.
