Thu Oct 17 02:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Mets Bring Back McNeil for NLCS Showdown Against Dodgers

**LOS ANGELES** – The New York Mets have bolstered their lineup for the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, activating versatile infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil. McNeil, who fractured his right wrist in early September, had been playing in the Arizona Fall League and is ready to contribute.

With Jose Iglesias entrenched as the second baseman, McNeil could see action at either outfield corner or provide a left-handed bat off the bench. His presence is particularly valuable as the Dodgers will be without left-handed reliever Alex Vesia, who sustained an intercostal injury.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers have made several roster adjustments. Miguel Rojas, who was battling a torn adductor muscle, did not make the NLCS roster. This opens up a spot for left-handed hitting center fielder Kevin Kiermaier, while Tommy Edman will assume the starting shortstop role.

The Dodgers also face uncertainty surrounding Freddie Freeman, who is dealing with a sprained right ankle. If he’s unable to play, Max Muncy could shift to first base, Hernandez to third, and Andy Pages would take over in center field.

The Mets opted to carry 14 position players and 12 pitchers, leaving veteran right-hander Adam Ottavino off the roster.

The NLCS series kicks off Sunday in Los Angeles, with both teams hoping to advance to the World Series.
