Tue Oct 15 23:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Bath & Body Works Apologizes for Candle Packaging Resembling KKK Hoods

Bath & Body Works has issued an apology after a candle packaging design sparked controversy. The “Snowed In” 3-wick candle, featuring a paper snowflake cutout on its packaging, was briefly available on the company’s website before being swiftly removed.

Many social media users criticized the design, pointing out its resemblance to Ku Klux Klan hoods due to the white, cone-shaped edges and two holes near the center. While some users defended the design, claiming it was simply a poorly executed snowflake, the majority perceived the resemblance to the racist symbol.

In a statement, a Bath & Body Works spokesperson acknowledged the unintentional nature of the mistake. “We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward,” they said.

The incident highlights the importance of sensitivity and careful design practices, particularly in relation to historical symbols of hate and intolerance.
