Tue Oct 15 08:42:54 UTC 2024: ## Kiwi Star All-Rounder Rachin Ravindra Remembers Bengaluru Family Ties Ahead of India Test
**Bengaluru:** With the first Test match between India and New Zealand set to begin on Wednesday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Kiwi star all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has spoken about his family’s deep connection to the city.
“Playing Test cricket in India is very special for me,” Ravindra said. “I know the customs and traditions here. It’s even more special because of the family ties. My father, Ravi Krishnamoorthi, will be coming from Wellington to watch me play. Those moments are always special. I was born and raised in Wellington, and in every way, I’m a New Zealander. But I’m also very proud of my Indian heritage. Many of my family members are still here. Playing here is special. Though this isn’t my first time playing in Bengaluru, I’ve had some great experiences here – scoring a century against Pakistan during the World Cup last year and playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL,” he added.
However, the first Test match is facing a potential threat from the weather. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Bengaluru, with showers already hitting the city since Tuesday morning. The Indian team’s practice session, scheduled for 11:15 am, was cancelled due to the downpour.
