Tue Oct 15 15:42:48 UTC 2024: ## India Aims for Dominance in New Zealand Test Series: Gambhir Calls for Aggressive Approach
**Bengaluru, India:** Ahead of the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand, Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has urged his players to adopt an aggressive approach, aiming for both dominance and adaptability. The series kicks off on October 16th in Bengaluru.
Speaking at a press conference, Gambhir expressed his desire to see India achieve 400 runs in a day, and even bat for two days to draw a Test match. “This is how we can progress,” he stated, emphasizing that playing within a conventional style will not lead to significant improvement.
“We want to be the team that can score 400 in a day and also the team that can bat for two days to draw a Test,” Gambhir said. “We have plenty of players who can bat for two days in the dressing room.”
Gambhir further highlighted the importance of strong bowling performances, noting that a good bowling attack can guarantee victory, while even a high-scoring batsman cannot guarantee a win. “I believe this is a period for the bowlers. It is essential to break the dominance of batsmen. Even if batsmen score 1000 runs, there’s no assurance of the team winning a Test match. But if bowlers take 20 wickets, there’s a 99% guarantee of victory,” he asserted.
The Indian team for the New Zealand series includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep.
The three-match Test series will be held in Bengaluru (October 16-20), Pune (October 24-28), and Mumbai (November 1-5).
