Tue Oct 15 11:00:00 UTC 2024: ## “Bad Monkey” Wraps Up Season One, Apple TV+ Greenlights Three-Season Arc

Apple TV+ has concluded the first season of its new Vince Vaughn-led mystery dramedy series, “Bad Monkey.” The show, based on Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 novel, follows Andrew Yancy, an irreverent former Miami detective turned Florida health inspector, played by Vaughn. When he is given a severed arm fished up by tourists, Yancy finds himself thrust into a dangerous world of greed and corruption.

“Bad Monkey” was pitched to Apple with a three-season plan in mind by co-creator Bill Lawrence, known for “Ted Lasso.” He revealed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the streaming service was receptive to the idea, eager to see the character’s journey unfold over multiple seasons. Lawrence elaborated, stating, “We have these season-long stories where you get caught up in characters’ lives, you see redemption stories, descents into the dark side… in my head, Yancy will move a step forward.”

Vaughn, enthusiastic about the project, shared his excitement for the potential of future seasons, saying, “I love the character, the world, the tone – all of it. So I think it would be exciting, obviously, with Bill creating it, to have a continuation and see where the character goes.” He praised the show’s blend of humor and depth, stating, “It’s so fun… and to work on something that’s funny and has these meanings and stuff that’s touching – you recognize your own lives, and there’s so much empathy in these conflicts.”

With the first season now available on Apple TV+, fans can look forward to at least two more seasons of “Bad Monkey,” as Apple TV+ has confirmed their commitment to the three-season arc. The series is poised to explore the depths of Yancy’s character, promising a captivating and engaging journey for viewers.
