Mon Oct 14 08:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Bahraich Tense After Communal Violence, CM Yogi Orders Strict Action
**Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh:** Bahraich is currently grappling with a tense situation following communal violence that erupted on Sunday. The violence, sparked by a stone-pelting incident during Durga idol immersion procession, led to the death of Ram Gopal Mishra, a local resident, after he was shot.
The incident triggered widespread protests, with hundreds of people taking to the streets demanding swift action against the perpetrators. They accused the police of inaction and negligence. The angry mob set two vehicles ablaze, vandalized several shops, and resorted to arson.
The situation further escalated when the victim’s body reached his village early Monday, igniting fury among the locals. They marched towards the tehsil office with the body, demanding justice. The family refused to perform the last rites until their demands were met.
Responding to the escalating situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a high-level meeting in Lucknow to discuss the situation. He has directed strict action against the perpetrators and emphasized the need to restore peace and order swiftly.
The police have deployed additional forces, including six companies of PAC from nearby districts, to control the situation. Internet services have been suspended to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors.
Several arrests have been made in connection with the violence, including ten individuals named in an FIR for their alleged involvement. The police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Ram Gopal Mishra.
The violence in Bahraich has raised concerns about communal tensions and the need for effective law enforcement. The administration is working tirelessly to restore normalcy in the region and prevent further escalation.
