Sun Oct 13 23:01:44 UTC 2024: ## Haaland Breaks Norwegian Scoring Record with Brace in Nations League Win
**OSLO, NORWAY** – Erling Haaland etched his name in Norwegian football history on Thursday, becoming the nation’s all-time leading scorer with a brace in a convincing 3-0 victory over Slovenia in the UEFA Nations League.
The Manchester City striker reached the milestone in his 36th international appearance, netting his 34th goal for his country. He surpassed the previous record held by Joergen Juve, who scored 33 goals in 45 appearances between 1929 and 1934.
Haaland opened the scoring in the seventh minute, capitalizing on a rebound from Jan Oblak after a shot by Antonio Nusa. He then added his second goal in the 62nd minute, expertly finishing a pass from Alexander Sorloth, who had also scored Norway’s second goal.
Despite the record-breaking performance, Haaland remained grounded, emphasizing his enjoyment of the game and acknowledging the significance of the achievement.
“Of course, it is big and historic. I’m happy, and it’s a fantastic record to achieve… I have many years left. I’m enjoying myself,” Haaland said.
Norway, under manager Stale Solbakken, is aiming for qualification to a major tournament for the first time since Euro 2000. With the win over Slovenia, they sit comfortably at the top of League B Group 3 with seven points. However, Haaland cautioned against complacency ahead of their next match, a challenging away fixture against Austria on Sunday.
“Now we have a hard away game – even though we won at home, we must not build up our expectations too much, we must not hype ourselves up too much,” he said.
