Thu Oct 10 18:07:21 UTC 2024: ## Ola Electric Under Scrutiny: Ministry of Heavy Industries Launches Probe into Service Issues

**New Delhi, India** – The Ministry of Heavy Industries has launched an investigation into allegations of service-related issues plaguing Ola Electric customers. The probe follows a Show Cause Notice issued to the company by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on October 3rd, 2024, citing concerns about consumer rights violations, misleading advertisements, and unfair trade practices.

The Ministry has sought input from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to assess the validity of these allegations. The letter to ARAI highlights concerns about Ola Electric’s adherence to regulations under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME II) and the PM E-DRIVE scheme. These programs mandate all Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including Ola Electric, to establish robust service centers and provide warranties for customer satisfaction.

Ola Electric, a recipient of FAME I and PM E-DRIVE benefits, received its eligibility certification from ARAI. The Ministry is now seeking ARAI’s evaluation of the current situation to facilitate a thorough investigation.

Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy has stressed the importance of protecting consumer rights and ensuring compliance by all electric vehicle manufacturers. The Ministry’s actions signal a commitment to holding companies accountable for their conduct and ensuring the smooth operation of India’s burgeoning electric vehicle market.
