Chennai is gearing up for a spectacular display of aerial prowess as the Indian Air Force (IAF) hosts its annual airshow at the iconic Marina Beach on Sunday, October 8th. Marking the 92nd anniversary of the IAF’s establishment, the event will feature an array of aircraft showcasing the strength and agility of the Indian Air Force.
The show, expected to draw over 1.5 million spectators, will run from 11 am to 1 pm and will feature a diverse range of aircraft, including the indigenous Tejas, the formidable Sukhoi 30, and the impressive Rafale. The air display will also include the Akash Ganga team, Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT), Sarang Team, Chetak, HTT-40, Dakota, Pilatus PC-7, Harvard, C-295, DO-228, AEW@C, Mig-29, IL-78, Mirage, P8i, and Jaguar.
Attendees will be treated to thrilling aerobatic performances by the renowned Suryakiran and Sarang teams. The IAF aims to make this event a record-breaking affair by achieving an entry in the Limca Book of Records.
Notable dignitaries attending the event include Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, along with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam.
The Greater Chennai Traffic Police has announced traffic diversions and encourages the public to utilize the metro and MRTS services for faster travel. The event will feature 72 aircraft originating from Sulur, Thanjavur, Arakkonam, and Bengaluru, showcasing the vast reach of the IAF.
Previous airshows were held in Prayagraj in 2023 and Chandigarh in 2022. The Chennai airshow promises to be a memorable spectacle, showcasing the pride and power of the Indian Air Force.
