Sun Oct 06 02:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Teenage Photographer Meets Princess of Wales After Battling Rare Cancer

**Windsor Castle, England** – 17-year-old Liz Hatton, battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer, had a once-in-a-lifetime experience when she met Catherine, Princess of Wales, at Windsor Castle this week. Hatton, an aspiring photographer, was invited to capture the investiture ceremony and found herself in the presence of the royal, who had recently returned to public life following her own cancer battle.

Hatton, who was diagnosed with desmoplastic small round cell tumor in January, had created a photography bucket list with her mother, Vicky Robayna, to capture special events and people. Her wish to photograph the investiture ceremony was granted after the London Air Ambulance Charity, of which Prince William is patron, saw the family’s social media post.

“I felt very honoured,” Hatton told The Times. “We were sitting on the sofa and then all of a sudden they just walk in.” She shared that her conversation with the Princess of Wales revolved around photography, discussing lenses and techniques, rather than focusing on their shared experiences with cancer.

The Princess of Wales, along with Prince William, later expressed their admiration for Hatton’s talent and strength on social media, posting a photo of themselves hugging the young photographer. “It was a pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor,” they wrote. “Her creativity and strength has inspired us both.”

Hatton’s meeting with the Princess of Wales has brought her immense joy, especially during a difficult time. Her consultant has given her a prognosis of three to four weeks left, while her mother estimates she has eight to ten weeks.

“It is uncertain how long I have, how long I’ll live. But it is certain that it won’t be for a long time,” Hatton shared. “And so because of that, I feel like the only thing you can do is do as much as possible, as much as possible of what you want to do and what you enjoy. And to spend it with the people you love.”
