**New Delhi, October 5:** The Indian government has released the 18th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme today, benefitting over 9.5 crore small and marginal farmers across the country. Each eligible farmer will receive a direct cash transfer of Rs 2,000, bringing the total disbursement for this installment to a significant Rs 20,000 crore.
This third installment for 2024 marks a continuous effort to support the agricultural sector and provide financial assistance to farmers owning up to two hectares of land. The previous installment was disbursed on June 18, reaching over 9.25 crore farmers.
Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme aims to provide annual financial support of Rs 6,000 to eligible farmers, distributed in three equal installments.
Farmers can easily verify their eligibility and check if they are enrolled in the PM-KISAN scheme by visiting the official website and entering details like state, district, and village. The beneficiary list is also displayed at local Panchayats.
To ensure continued payments under the scheme, farmers are required to complete the eKYC process. This can be done through various methods, including Aadhaar-linked mobile number verification, biometric authentication at Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Seva Kendras (SSKs), or facial recognition using the PM-KISAN mobile app.
The government has also emphasized the importance of completing the eKYC process to ensure smooth and timely payments.
