Fri Oct 04 05:21:37 UTC 2024: ## Kentucky Forecast: Weekend Warmth Gives Way to Chilly Start to October

**Lexington, KY (October 4, 2024)** – Enjoy a pleasant and mostly dry weekend, with temperatures hovering in the upper 70s to low 80s, before a cold front arrives Sunday night, bringing a chill to the region.

“The weekend has a lot of mid-September in it,” says Chris Bailey, local meteorologist, “but a crisp cold front changes that in a hurry by Sunday night and Monday.”

The front will usher in a broken band of showers and storms across eastern Kentucky, with temperatures dropping below normal from Monday through the following weekend.

While the front brings a chilly start to October, there’s a developing system in the Gulf of Mexico that could bring some potential for rain in the coming weeks.

“That should eventually develop into a named storm in the coming days and it’s likely to hang around the eastern Gulf for a while,” says Bailey, adding that he wouldn’t be surprised to see multiple systems form from this disturbance.

While the local forecast shows less than a 10% chance for rain over the next ten days, the incoming cold front and developing tropical system could bring a change to that.

“Check out the temperature departures from the EURO,” Bailey advises, “That model even gives us an outside shot at some patchy frost later next week.”
