Sun Sep 29 04:59:39 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai’s Rising Star Musheer Khan Out For Four Months Following Car Accident

**Lucknow, India:** Mumbai’s promising young batsman, Musheer Khan, has been ruled out for up to four months after suffering a neck fracture in a car accident on Friday. The 19-year-old, who was travelling from Azamgarh to Lucknow with his father and coach, was injured when the vehicle hit a divider and overturned on the Purvanchal Expressway.

Musheer, the younger brother of Indian Test batsman Sarfaraz Khan, is currently hospitalized in Lucknow and is said to be stable and conscious. He is expected to be flown back to Mumbai on Sunday for further evaluation and treatment.

The accident comes as a major blow to Mumbai’s chances in the upcoming Irani Cup, starting on Tuesday in Lucknow, and the initial rounds of the Ranji Trophy. Musheer was a key player for Mumbai’s successful Ranji Trophy campaign last season, scoring over 700 runs in nine matches, including three centuries.

Musheer’s absence will be a significant loss for the defending champions, as he had been making a name for himself on the domestic circuit. He had scored a century on his Duleep Trophy debut earlier this month.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has yet to announce a replacement for Musheer. The BCCI’s medical team is closely monitoring his condition and will conduct further tests upon his return to Mumbai.

The MCA had initially planned for Musheer to travel with the Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup, but his father, Naushad Khan, requested that he be allowed to train in Azamgarh, where he was being coached by his father.

Despite the setback, Musheer remains optimistic about his recovery. He is expected to return to the field in a few months, and fans are hoping that he will be back to his best when he returns.
