Sat Sep 28 14:04:51 UTC 2024: ## Unveiling of Bhagat Singh Statue at Amritsar Airport Postponed Due to Election Code

**Amritsar, India:** The highly anticipated unveiling of a 30-foot-tall statue of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport has been postponed. The event, originally scheduled for September 28th, the birth anniversary of the martyr, has been delayed due to the model code of conduct currently in place for the panchayat elections in Punjab.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was set to dedicate the statue, had previously highlighted its significance in preserving Bhagat Singh’s legacy for future generations. He envisioned the statue as a reminder to the younger generation of the Punjabi diaspora, as well as passengers from neighboring states, of the martyr’s supreme sacrifice for the nation.

Mann had also praised Bhagat Singh’s unwavering bravery, his socialist ideals, and his fight against injustice.

The postponement has disappointed many who were eager to witness the unveiling of this monumental tribute to the national hero. The new date for the event is yet to be announced.
