**Newcastle upon Tyne, England** – Manchester City’s undefeated start to the Premier League season came to an end on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Erling Haaland, who had scored 10 goals in his first five league matches, was kept off the scoresheet for the first time this season. City struggled to find their rhythm in the absence of influential midfielder Rodri, who is out for the season with an ACL injury.

Josko Gvardiol gave City the lead in the 35th minute with a well-taken goal. Jack Grealish’s pass found the left-back who cut inside onto his weaker right foot and fired a shot into the corner of the net.

However, Newcastle fought back and equalized in the 58th minute when Anthony Gordon converted a penalty. The England winger, playing as the central striker in place of the injured Alexander Isak, was brought down by City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes as he raced through on goal.

The result means City have now dropped points in two consecutive Premier League matches after winning their first four games.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s impressive start to the season continues, as they remain unbeaten and sit comfortably in mid-table.

The draw further tightens the Premier League title race, with Arsenal and Liverpool both set to play on Saturday. Arsenal face Leicester, while Liverpool take on Wolverhampton.
