**Chennai, India:** India’s pace attack made a strong statement on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After Jasprit Bumrah drew first blood dismissing Shadman Islam for 2, Akash Deep took center stage, claiming two wickets in consecutive deliveries to leave Bangladesh reeling.

Deep, who earned his national team call-up after impressive performances in the Duleep Trophy, delivered unplayable deliveries to dismiss Zakir Hasan (3) and Mominul Haque (0), shattering their stumps and causing a major dent in Bangladesh’s batting line-up. His performance drew praise from both fans and India head coach Gautam Gambhir, who was seen smiling and applauding the young pacer from the dressing room.

Earlier, India resumed their innings from 339/6 overnight and were eventually bowled out for 376. Ravichandran Ashwin (113) and Ravindra Jadeja (86) were the heroes of the Indian innings with their crucial 199-run seventh-wicket partnership.

Following their impressive performance with the bat, India’s bowlers showcased their class, putting Bangladesh on the back foot early in the innings. With Bumrah and Deep leading the charge, the Indian pace attack looks set to dominate the match.
