Dublin, Ireland – In a highly anticipated homecoming, Irish boxer Callum Walsh retained his WBC Continental Americas Super Welterweight title with a stunning second-round knockout of Przemyslaw Runowski at the 3Arena on Friday, September 20th.

The 23-year-old Walsh showcased his skills from the outset, rocking Runowski with left hands in the first round. In the second round, he upped the pressure, landing a powerful left hook that sent Runowski to the canvas. Despite Runowski’s protestations, referee David Irving called a halt to the fight at 2:06, declaring Walsh the victor.

Walsh’s win improved his record to 12-0, while Runowski fell to 22-3-1.

The co-main event saw a closely contested split decision victory for Ali Akhmedov over Pierre Hubert Dibombe in a super middleweight fight. Despite a knockdown in the eighth round by Dibombe, Akhmedov’s resilience and the judges’ scores (96-93, 95-92, and 92-97) sealed his victory.

The undercard was filled with exciting action. Dublin debutant Gareth Dowling impressed with a second-round stoppage of Daniel Nowak in a junior middleweight bout. Irish lightweight prospect Shauna O’Keefe secured a fourth-round stoppage win over Valgerdur Gudsteinsdottir. Dublin’s Craig O’Brien upset Edward Donovan in a six-round technical split decision to win the Celtic super welterweight title.

The night also saw wins for heavyweight prospect Thomas Carty, who knocked out Jonathan Vergara in the second round, and former Olympian Emmet Brennan, who outlasted Kevin Cronin in an eight-round split decision for the Celtic super middleweight title.

Walsh’s resounding victory served as a highlight of the event, showcasing the rising star’s talent and promising a bright future for the Irish boxing scene.
