Fri Sep 20 06:20:04 UTC 2024: ## TotalEnergies Starts Production at Fenix Gas Field in Argentina

**PARIS, FRANCE – September 19, 2024** – TotalEnergies has announced the commencement of production at the Fenix gas field, located off the coast of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. The field is part of the Cuenca Marina Austral 1 (CMA-1) concession, where TotalEnergies operates a 37.5% interest alongside partners Harbour Energy (37.5%) and Pan American Energy (25%).

Fenix boasts a production capacity of 10 million cubic meters per day (70,000 boe/d) and features a new unmanned platform situated in 70 meters of water depth. The platform is connected to existing CMA-1 facilities, with gas being transported via a 35-kilometer subsea pipeline to TotalEnergies’ operated Véga Pléyade platform. Subsequently, the gas is processed onshore at the RÃo Cullen and Cañadon Alfa facilities, also operated by TotalEnergies.

Fenix is touted as a low-cost, low-emission development, with a carbon intensity of 9 kg CO2e/boe, leveraging existing infrastructure. The project’s start-up, achieved ahead of schedule just two years after the final investment decision, highlights TotalEnergies’ capability in delivering projects effectively.

Javier Rielo, Senior Vice President Americas, Exploration & Production at TotalEnergies, stated that Fenix will contribute to maintaining the company’s gas production plateau in Tierra del Fuego, ensuring a reliable supply to the Argentinean gas market. He emphasized that Fenix aligns perfectly with TotalEnergies’ low-cost, low-emission strategy due to its low break-even point and carbon intensity.

TotalEnergies has a longstanding presence in Argentina, dating back to 1978. The company employs over 1,100 people across its business segments, including exploration & production, renewable electricity (solar and wind), and lubricants. In 2023, TotalEnergies’ equity share of production averaged 88,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

In addition to the CMA-1 concession, TotalEnergies operates five onshore blocks in Neuquen, spanning over 235,000 net acres. The company is also active in renewable energy, operating three wind farms and one solar plant in Argentina, with a combined installed capacity of roughly 300 MW.
