The controversy surrounding the quality of ghee used in the Tirupati Laddu Prasadam continues to unfold, with devotees visiting the Tirumala Venkateshwara Temple despite concerns.
While some devotees expressed their trust in the Lord, saying he would take care of those who have wronged the temple, others voiced their relief at the restored quality of the prasadam. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has assured devotees that the sacred offering is now “immaculate,” following concerns raised over the quality of the ghee.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, however, has called for a thorough investigation into the matter, labeling it a “serious issue” and stating that the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh’s statement on the matter requires investigation. The Minister stressed that this is a matter of faith for millions and any wrongdoing must be punished.
The controversy began after former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, raised concerns about the quality of ghee used in the laddu prasadam and released laboratory reports to support his claims. The TTD has since maintained that the prasadam’s sanctity has been restored.
The Andhra Pradesh government will now decide whether to hand the case over to the CBI or set up an SIT to investigate the matter further. The issue is currently before the High Court and is scheduled for hearing on September 25th.
