**Hyderabad, India:** Amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the use of animal fat in the preparation of the famed Tirupati Balaji Prasad, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has called for the establishment of a national-level ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board’ to address issues related to temples across India.
Kalyan, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressed deep concern over the findings and reiterated the commitment of the current government to take strict action against those responsible. He argues that this incident highlights larger problems related to temple desecration, land issues, and the erosion of religious practices.
“This throws light on many issues surrounding desecration of temples, its land issues and other dharmic practices,” Kalyan stated, adding that a national-level debate is necessary to address these concerns.
This call comes after the Andhra Pradesh government accused the previous YSR Congress administration of using animal fat instead of ghee in the preparation of the Tirupati Prasad.
The TDP, the opposition party, has presented lab reports indicating the presence of beef tallow, lard, and fish oil in the ghee supplied to the Tirumala temple.
Kalyan’s call for a national board and a wider dialogue aims to prevent future instances of alleged desecration and ensure the protection of Sanathana Dharma. He believes a collective effort from policymakers, religious leaders, judiciary, citizens, and media is crucial to address these issues.
