Fri Sep 20 07:44:41 UTC 2024: ## Former Guns N’ Roses Drummer Steven Adler Opens Up About Heroin Addiction and Band’s Decision to Fire Him

In a new Paramount+ docuseries, “Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of ’80s Hair Metal,” former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler has revealed the story behind his heroin addiction and his subsequent dismissal from the band.

Adler, who joined the iconic rock group in their early days, admitted that he started using heroin to fit in with bandmates Slash and Izzy Stradlin. Despite a horrific first experience, Adler couldn’t escape the drug’s pull and ultimately fell into a deep addiction.

While being fired from Guns N’ Roses was a devastating blow for Adler, the pain only intensified his addiction, pushing him further into darkness. “I’ve always loved the whole team thing,” he revealed, expressing the importance of a cohesive band unit. “And then when my team threw me out, I didn’t know what to do.”

The docuseries also features archival footage of Axl Rose, Guns N’ Roses’ frontman, giving a candid account of the band’s decision to let Adler go. “Steven didn’t leave the band. Steven was fired,” Rose stated. “We gave him every ultimatum. We had Steven sign a contract saying if he went back to drugs, he was out. He couldn’t leave his drugs.”

Despite the painful past, Adler has since found peace and expresses gratitude for being part of Guns N’ Roses’ legacy. He has performed with the band on several occasions and is proud of the time they shared together.

“I just loved being part of a team, and Guns N’ Roses, the five of us, were a great f***ing team,” Adler concluded.
