Fri Sep 20 07:15:12 UTC 2024: ## Polish Football Association Offers $450,000 to Flood-Affected Clubs

**WARSAW, POLAND** – The Polish Football Association (PZPN) has announced a fund of over $450,000 to aid clubs impacted by the severe floods that have ravaged central Europe. The devastating floods, the worst in two decades, have claimed at least 24 lives, including seven in Poland.

Wroclaw, Poland’s third-largest city, has been particularly hard hit, suffering significant damage. In response, PZPN president Cezary Kulesza announced the financial aid on social media, stating that the association, along with provincial associations, will contribute 1.75 million Polish zloty (approximately $450,000) to support affected clubs.

“Together with the presidents of the provincial associations, we have decided to donate 1.75 million Polish zloty to help the clubs affected by the flood,” Kulesza wrote on X.

Slask Wroclaw, a top-flight club based in the city, has also stepped up to assist flood victims. The club postponed Monday’s home game against Stal Mielec and transformed their stadium into a donation collection point. They have also launched a fundraiser and sent players and coaches to distribute essential supplies to affected areas.

The European Union has pledged billions of euros in aid to the region, with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stating that Poland could receive 5 billion euros ($5.59 billion).
