Sat Sep 21 07:03:39 UTC 2024: ## PM Modi Departs for US Visit Amidst Heightened Security Measures

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a three-day trip to the United States on Saturday, where he will participate in the QUAD summit and various other events. In the wake of rising security concerns, both New Delhi and Washington have implemented stringent security protocols for PM Modi’s visit.

The heightened security measures come after two attacks on former US President Donald Trump and concerns about the threat posed by pro-Khalistan elements in the US. The US Secret Service has increased security around locations in Delaware and New York where PM Modi will be visiting.

Upon arrival in the US, PM Modi will meet with US President Joe Biden, followed by the participation of both in the QUAD leaders’ summit, which will also see participation from Japanese PM Fumio Kishida and Australian PM Anthony Albanese. The summit will be held at the Archmere Academy in Delaware, where President Biden attended high school.

The Special Protection Group (SPG) and the US Secret Service will be managing PM Modi’s security in New York, where he will address the Indian diaspora on September 22nd. This event, scheduled at the Nassau Coliseum in Nassau County, will be secured by the Nassau County Police. The US Secret Service is coordinating with the Nassau County Police for crowd control and thorough checks to prevent any untoward incidents.

The QUAD Summit, which was initially planned to be held in India this year, was shifted to the US at the request of the US.

The US is also bolstering security in New York City for the “Summit of the Future” scheduled for September 23rd. PM Modi will attend the annual QUAD summit in Wilmington, Delaware, and deliver a speech to the Indian community in New York on September 22nd. He will also address the “Summit of the Future” at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23rd, engaging with top American company CEOs in the technical field and participating in bilateral talks with President Biden and other global leaders.
