**Ile-Ife, Osun State** – The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the commencement of the 2024 Olojo Festival, highlighting its deep ancestral and spiritual significance. The event, themed “Evolving Transformational Domestic Tourism With Community Festivals,” will take place between September 26th and 30th.
Speaking at his palace during a press conference, the Ooni emphasized the festival’s spiritual exercises and the numerous testimonies attributed to them. The Olojo Festival, he explained, celebrates the day of the first dawn and commemorates Ogun, the god of iron, believed to be the first son of Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba people.
The festival also marks the birth of the “Aare Crown,” a sacred artifact believed to hold immense spiritual power. According to the Ooni, prayers offered to Olodumare (God) through the crown have yielded numerous answered prayers and blessings.
The Ooni further explained that the “Ade Aare” crown is a unique and powerful object that embodies the essence of humanity. “The crown changes the weather, it does not see the atmosphere except once in a year, during Olojo festival,” he stated. “In the crown, we see everything complete, we see the day, night, four corners of the world, the northern, southern, eastern and western poles.”
The Ooni also emphasized the importance of preserving their heritage, urging Nigerians and international tourists to attend the festival. “These are things we should not joke about, It is our heritage, we should not compromise it with anything,” he said.
The festival will include a variety of events, including traditional games, cultural talent hunts, community cleansing, and a grand finale ceremony. The Ooni expressed his gratitude to the sponsors for their support, encouraging them to invest in developing local tourism sites.
The 2024 Olojo Festival promises to be a captivating celebration of Yoruba culture and heritage, drawing visitors from across the country and the world.
