**ROTTERDAM, Netherlands** – Dutch prosecutors are investigating a potential terrorist motive behind a stabbing attack in Rotterdam that left one man dead and another injured on Thursday night.

The 22-year-old suspect, who hails from Amersfoort, is accused of stabbing his first victim in a parking garage beneath the Erasmus Bridge before moving to street level where he fatally attacked a 32-year-old Rotterdam resident. He then allegedly wounded a 33-year-old Swiss citizen.

The suspect was apprehended after being overpowered by bystanders and police. Witnesses reported he was wielding two large knives and seemed to be targeting individuals at random.

Prosecutors have charged the suspect with murder and attempted murder with a terrorist motive, citing evidence that he shouted “Allahu Akbar” (“God is Greater” in Arabic) repeatedly during the attack. However, they are also exploring other possible motives.

According to De Telegraaf newspaper, a personal trainer intervened during the attack, knocking the suspect unconscious with a broken squat stick while other bystanders threw chairs at him.

Authorities are currently investigating the suspect’s background and potential links to extremist ideologies.
