**Paris, France** – World Jewish Congress (WJC) President Ronald S. Lauder met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace today to discuss issues of concern to France’s Jewish community, including rising antisemitism, the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, and the situation of the hostages taken during the Hamas attack on October 7th.

Lauder expressed gratitude for Macron’s unwavering support of the Jewish community, calling him a “steadfast ally” during these challenging times. He expressed confidence that France will continue to protect its Jewish citizens and work towards bringing the hostages home.

Macron reaffirmed his unconditional support for France’s Jewish community and stressed the importance of resolving the Israel-Hamas conflict, including ensuring the safe return of all remaining hostages. He emphasized the French government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of its Jewish citizens and its role in broader regional issues affecting the Jewish community worldwide.

The meeting followed a WJC Steering Committee gathering earlier in the day and was also attended by Yonathan Arfi, WJC Vice President and president of the Conseil Représentatif des Institutions Juives de France (CRIF).
