Sat Sep 21 07:21:50 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates Bangladesh in First Test, Set Up Huge Lead

**Chennai, India:** India has taken complete control of the first Test match against Bangladesh, establishing a commanding 308-run lead at the end of Day 2. The hosts achieved this dominance thanks to impressive performances from their bowlers and the heroic knocks of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the first innings.

On Day 1, Bangladesh had opted to bowl first, hoping to exploit the conditions at the M. Chidambaram Stadium. However, their bowling attack was met with resilience from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, who steered India to a respectable score. Then, Ashwin and Jadeja took over, forming a formidable partnership that saw Ashwin score a century and Jadeja contribute a crucial 86 runs. India finished Day 1 at 339/6.

The momentum shifted on Day 2, with Bangladesh struggling to chase down a mammoth target of 377 runs. India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah led the attack, claiming four wickets and bowling Bangladesh out for a paltry 149 runs.

India’s bowlers, including Bumrah, Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep, consistently troubled the Bangladeshi batsmen. Only Shakib Al Hasan (32), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (27*), Litton Das (22), and Nazmul Hossain Shanto (20) managed to cross the 20-run mark for Bangladesh.

India, in their second innings, lost early wickets, but Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are currently at the crease, with India at 81/3 at stumps.

The dominance displayed by India has put them in a strong position to secure a victory in the first Test. Bangladesh will need to show significant improvement in their batting and bowling to salvage anything from this match.
