**LOS ANGELES** – Actress Kelly Bishop, known for her roles in “Dirty Dancing” and “Gilmore Girls,” has revealed intimate details about her past relationships in her new memoir, “The Third Gilmore Girl.” In the book, Bishop discusses a passionate but ultimately doomed affair with a married man she met during her first Broadway show, “Golden Rainbow.”
Bishop, who described the relationship as “exquisite and romantic,” admitted to knowing it was wrong from the start. She felt a growing sense of guilt for the impact her affair was having on the man’s wife, ultimately leading her to end the relationship despite her deep feelings for him.
The memoir also details Bishop’s tumultuous marriage to Broadway stagehand Peter Miller, who struggled with a gambling addiction. Despite her efforts to help him, the marriage ended in divorce after five years.
However, Bishop found lasting love with television host Lee Leonard, whom she married in 1981. She credits honesty, support, and mutual respect as the foundation of their successful marriage until his death in 2018.
In her memoir, Bishop encourages readers to be their own best friends, emphasizing the importance of self-worth and authenticity in navigating life’s challenges.
