Fri Sep 20 07:13:15 UTC 2024: ## Google Chrome for Android to Get Built-in Tab Search Feature

Google is bringing a long-awaited feature to Chrome for Android: the ability to search through open tabs. This feature, dubbed “Android Hub Search,” is currently being tested in Chrome Canary, the browser’s experimental channel.

The new feature will be accessible through a dedicated search bar located within the “hub” above the tab switcher. This “hub” also houses the cross-device tab pane that displays recently opened tabs.

While Chrome for desktop has had a built-in tab search feature for some time, its absence on the mobile version has been a point of frustration for many users. This omission may have been due to the smaller screen size and the nature of mobile browsing, where users typically have fewer tabs open compared to their desktop counterparts.

However, Google’s new feature will address this issue and provide users with a more efficient way to navigate their open tabs on Android. The feature is expected to be available to all users once it has been fully tested and implemented.

In related news, Chrome for Android is also set to introduce a new security feature requiring biometric verification before auto-filling saved passwords. This feature, which will be mandatory in untrusted locations, is currently being tested in Canary and is expected to be rolled out in the near future.
