**PARKER, CO -** The Castle View Sabercats dominated the Douglas County Huskies in a thrilling rivalry matchup on Thursday night, securing a resounding 37-16 victory at EchoPark Stadium.
The Huskies started strong, scoring 16 unanswered points in the first quarter, but the Sabercats answered with an impressive 37-point run, fueled by a potent rushing attack and a stifling defense.
After falling behind early, Castle View’s offense found its groove, led by the powerful running of seniors Aaron Perry and Camden Tobler. Tobler, in particular, had a standout performance, scoring three touchdowns, including a 19-yard scamper where he shed several defenders on his way to the endzone.
The Sabercats defense also rose to the occasion, shutting down the Huskies’ offensive momentum. They forced multiple turnovers and held Douglas County scoreless for the final three quarters.
“We knew they were going to come out firing, but we knew if we kept swinging, they would give up,” said Castle View senior quarterback Derek Gordon. “Our running backs did a great job, and our line killed it.”
The victory extends Castle View’s dominance in the rivalry, bringing their record to 8-2 in the last 10 matchups. The win also showcased the Sabercats’ potential as they continue to build on their successful 2023 season.
“We’re going to have to batten down the hatches, run a bunch of trick plays,” said Castle View Head Coach Frank Martin, acknowledging the team’s upcoming challenges. “We have a lot of confidence, and this week against Legend will tell you everything you need to know about us.”
Despite the loss, Douglas County Head Coach Eric Rice emphasized the need to focus on the rest of the season. “We understand that this is just one game,” Rice said. “We have a lot of season left, and we feel like we have a playoff-caliber team.”
