Sat Sep 21 00:52:19 UTC 2024: ## Enhanced Security for PM Modi’s US Trip Amidst Heightened Concerns
**New Delhi, India** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming three-day trip to the United States, beginning this Saturday, has prompted heightened security measures due to growing concerns. The Indian and American security officials have been working closely over the past 15 days, particularly in the wake of two assassination attempts against former US President Donald Trump.
The US Secret Service has implemented “enhanced” security around the venues where PM Modi will be visiting in Delaware and New York, specifically focusing on threats posed by pro-Khalistan elements in the US.
During his trip, PM Modi will meet with US President Joe Biden on Saturday before attending the Quad leaders’ summit alongside Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The summit will take place at Archmere Academy in Delaware, Biden’s former high school. The area is being meticulously secured to prevent any potential threats to the leaders, and no crowd or students will be present at the event.
In New York, the Special Protection Group (SPG) and US Secret Service will collaborate to ensure PM Modi’s safety during his address to the Indian diaspora on September 22. The event at the Nassau Coliseum is expected to draw around 20,000 attendees, and the Nassau County police are deploying personnel to secure the venue.
The US Secret Service is relying on Nassau County police to manage the perimeter and screen the crowd for the event.
The security in New York City is already heightened due to the annual UN General Assembly, which is taking place during the same period as the Summit of The Future, where PM Modi will participate on September 23.
PM Modi is scheduled to return to India on September 24.
