**Budapest, Hungary:** The Indian chess team continued their remarkable run at the 2024 Chess Olympiad, securing their seventh consecutive victory in the open section with a hard-fought 2.5-1.5 win over China in the seventh round on Wednesday.

The win came courtesy of 18-year-old chess prodigy Gukesh Dommaraj, who battled against world-renowned Chinese player Wei Yi in a tense match that lasted nearly six hours. Despite facing a difficult middle game, Gukesh’s skillful maneuvers and accurate moves ultimately led to a crucial victory.

While other Indian players, including Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, Arjun Erigaisi, and Pentala Harikrishna, secured draws on the lower boards, Gukesh’s win cemented India’s position at the top of the standings.

Meanwhile, the Indian women’s team also extended their winning streak, defeating Georgia 3-1 in their seventh round match. GM Vaishali Rameshbabu and IM Vantika Agrawal, both playing with black pieces, secured impressive victories against their Georgian counterparts, including seasoned GM Bella Khotenashvili.

The Indian chess teams are now poised for their eighth round matches against Iran and the Netherlands respectively on Thursday. With their current momentum, both teams are aiming to maintain their winning streak and solidify their positions at the top of the Olympiad.
