**Western, NY** – The Western Town Board has officially adopted a new Zoning Law, culminating a four-year effort by the Planning Board and various stakeholders. The new law, which replaces the original one passed in the early 1970s, reflects goals outlined in the 2019 Comprehensive Plan.

Key changes in the new law include:

* **Consolidation of zoning districts:** Three old districts have been combined into a single Residential-Rural-Agricultural zone.
* **Creation of new districts:** Two new Residential-Hamlet districts have been established for Westernville and North Western.
* **Renewable energy regulations:** The new law incorporates regulations for both solar and wind energy facilities.
* **Improved clarity:** Many new definitions have been added, and the language of the old law has been streamlined.
