Wed Sep 18 00:47:00 UTC 2024: ## STALKER 2 Developers Share Their Struggle During War in New Documentary

**Kiev, Ukraine – September 18, 2024** – The upcoming documentary “War Game: The Making of STALKER 2” will offer a glimpse into the extraordinary challenges faced by the developers of the highly anticipated game, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

The documentary, directed by Andrew Stephan, chronicles the harrowing experience of GSC Game World, the developer behind the STALKER franchise, as they navigated the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The film, sponsored by Microsoft, will premiere on Xbox’s official YouTube channel on October 3rd.

“War Game” paints a poignant picture of the team’s resilience in the face of adversity. Creative director Maria Grygorovych, whose team was previously based in Kiev, reveals the emotional toll of the conflict and the difficult decision to relocate development to Prague.

“It wasn’t my dream to do this film,” Grygorovych shared with Variety. “But I really think it’s important to share… It’s important to show the world how difficult it is to live in a wartime from a personal perspective.”

The documentary also sheds light on the bravery of GSC Game World employees who stayed behind in Ukraine to defend their homeland. Notably, one of the game’s developers, Volodymyr Yezhov, tragically lost his life while defending Bakhmut.

Despite the devastating impact of the war, Grygorovych remains hopeful for the future. She expressed her desire to welcome back those who have joined the Ukrainian army, including programmers, QA members, and community managers, once the war comes to an end.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 20th.
