**Kings Langley, Hertfordshire** – A murder investigation is underway after a man in his 30s was fatally shot in Kings Langley early yesterday morning.

Police were called to Railway Terrace at 12:33am following reports of multiple gunshots and a car speeding away. The victim was found critically injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Just 15 minutes later, police received reports of a white Volkswagen Golf on fire in Furtherfield, Abbots Langley, which is believed to be linked to the shooting.

Witnesses described hearing gunshots, a car screeching away, and seeing a man lying in the road. Local residents expressed disbelief that such a violent incident could occur in their quiet town.

Forensic teams have been investigating both the scene of the shooting and the burned-out car in Abbots Langley.

Police are treating the incident as isolated and have assured the public there is no wider threat. They are urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the Kings Langley or Abbots Langley areas around 12:30am to contact them.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed something suspicious to come forward and speak to us. Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial to our investigation.”

The incident is not being linked to a previous shooting on the A41 or the recent rise in violence in Watford.
