Sun Sep 15 03:26:45 UTC 2024: ## Germany Insists Nord Stream Investigation is Transparent Amidst Russian Accusations

**Berlin, Germany** – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has vehemently denied any cover-up in the ongoing investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines, following accusations from Russia that the probe is lacking transparency.

Scholz, addressing citizens in Prenzlau, Brandenburg, on Saturday, declared that “nothing is being covered up,” and reiterated Germany’s commitment to bringing those responsible to justice. He stated that authorities are investigating the blasts “without regard for anyone.”

This comes after Russia, through Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, accused Germany of withholding information about the investigation despite multiple requests. Lavrov described the probe as “absolutely not transparent” and dismissed the alleged involvement of six individuals as implausible. He insisted on a transparent investigation, which he claims is being blocked by the US, UK, and their allies.

The 2022 blasts that damaged three of the four Nord Stream pipelines, crucial for transporting Russian gas to Europe, remain shrouded in mystery. No one has publicly claimed responsibility for the act. However, speculation has centered around a variety of actors, including a pro-Ukrainian commando unit, US operatives, and even a possible Ukrainian government role, according to various reports.

In February, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh alleged that the US was responsible for the sabotage, citing whistleblower sources. This claim was met with immediate pushback from Western media, who propagated a narrative of a small, independent group of pro-Ukrainian individuals carrying out the operation.

The Wall Street Journal later reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was aware of the operation and initially approved it, but later attempted to halt it.

Despite the lack of concrete evidence and conflicting narratives, Germany insists it is committed to a thorough and transparent investigation. The ongoing probe has resulted in one arrest warrant, allegedly issued for a Ukrainian national named “Vladimir Z.”
