**London, UK** – Kent & Curwen’s Chief Creative Officer, Daniel Kearns, has launched the brand’s first-ever womenswear collection, drawing inspiration from the classic English boarding school experience, but with a distinctly modern and rebellious twist.

The collection, which debuted at the Royal Academy Schools, presented a playful take on school uniform staples. Short shorts peeked out from under pleated skirts, bomber jackets were lined with traditional checks, and school shirts were adorned with Sharpie-style scribbles and writing. Kearns even incorporated backless loafers lined with faux fur and a beautifully tailored white overcoat with a hidden necktie lining.

The inspiration for the collection came from Kearns’ personal experience as a father sending his son off to university. He observed the diverse school uniforms worn by students across London and combined his observations with his own vision of preppy style, resulting in a look that is both sophisticated and rebellious.

“London has an eclectic young generation that’s so interested in culture and music. But it’s a pivotal time for many, like my son. They’re leaving school, the school uniform, and the conformity of [strict institutions] behind. They have this moment in life when they’re stepping into university or work life and are creating a wardrobe and identity for themselves,” Kearns explained.

Beyond the school uniform, Kearns also showcased his innovative take on Kent & Curwen’s signature rugby shirts, transforming them into shift dresses, and updating the brand’s classic cricket sweaters with a bold three stacked lions logo.

The collection has already received positive feedback from young audiences, including Kearns’ son Bailey. “I’m just just incredibly proud of everything he’s done — it’s taken a lot of hard work. I loved the tailoring and the trench coats were really nice,” he said.

With its youthful and playful aesthetic, Kent & Curwen’s new womenswear line is set to appeal to a younger audience, making its presence felt both on campus and beyond.
