The 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are set to take place on Sunday, September 15th, with FX’s “Shōgun” leading the pack with a staggering 25 nominations, including Best Drama Series.
Other top contenders include FX’s “The Bear” with 23 nominations, Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” with 21, HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country” with 19, and Netflix’s “The Crown” with 18.
Hosting the ceremony, broadcast live on ABC, are the father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, known for their work on “Schitt’s Creek.” The Levys promise a warm and respectful tone, avoiding harsh jokes at the expense of nominees.
“We were asked before, but it didn’t feel right,” said Dan. “This year, we decided to take on the challenge.”
“It’s always strange to see jokes at the expense of those nominated,” added Eugene. “They deserve respect, and it’s their night. We want it to be funny, but in a kinder, gentler way.”
The event will feature appearances by Olympic athletes Caeleb Dressel and Ilona Maher, as well as a star-studded cast of presenters including Christine Baranski, Matt Bomer, Lily Gladstone, Jimmy Kimmel, Greta Lee, Nava Mau, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Maya Rudolph, Jean Smart, Kristen Wiig, and many more.
For those looking to watch the ceremony live, it will be broadcast on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Streaming options include ABC.com, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, and Sling.
Red carpet coverage begins on E! at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET, followed by ABC’s “On the Red Carpet: Live at the Emmys” at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Post-ceremony coverage will be available on E! at 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET.
