**Lokoja, Kogi State** – The Kogi State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a 17-year-old Biology student at the Federal University Lokoja (FUL). The victim, identified as a 100-level student, was allegedly kidnapped and killed by a 21-year-old man.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the main suspect, Jeremiah Paul-Awe, was arrested on September 11th by operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID). Paul-Awe, a resident of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State, is alleged to have conspired with three of his friends to carry out the crime.

The investigation began when the victim’s father, Stephen Oluwoyo, reported his daughter missing and received a message demanding a ransom. Following a tip, police tracked down Paul-Awe and apprehended him. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to kidnapping and killing the student on September 4th.

Paul-Awe further revealed that he drugged and strangled the victim before mutilating her body by removing her eyes, lungs, liver, tongue, intestines, and other organs. He then dumped the body in a bush.

The suspect claimed that he contacted the victim’s father demanding a ransom after consulting a native doctor he met on TikTok, who instructed him to perform certain rituals. The father, unaware of his daughter’s death, paid N400,000 in ransom.

Following Paul-Awe’s arrest, police recovered the victim’s body and transported it to the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja mortuary for autopsy. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of three other suspects, allegedly friends of the main suspect who aided in the crime.

The police spokesperson confirmed that all four suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.
