**Dubai, UAE** – Saudi Arabian international footballer Fahad Al-Muwallad is currently in intensive care after falling from a second-floor balcony at his home in Dubai. The incident, which occurred between 9am and 10am on Thursday, left the 30-year-old winger with multiple fractures.
Al-Muwallad, who plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab, was reportedly alone at the time of the incident. His friends had left the residence three hours prior. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall, with footage from street and home cameras being analyzed.
The incident has shaken the football community, especially in Saudi Arabia where Al-Muwallad is a highly recognized and popular figure. He has represented his country 78 times, including at the 2018 World Cup.
Al-Muwallad, who began his career at Al-Ittihad and also had a loan spell at Spanish club Levante, rejoined Al-Shabab in 2022. He was previously involved in a doping case that led to his removal from Saudi Arabia’s 2022 World Cup squad and an 18-month ban from football activities. His sentence was later reduced, and he has since returned to international play.
The football world is wishing Al-Muwallad a speedy recovery.
