Fri Sep 13 16:36:00 UTC 2024: ## Ohio Gas Prices Plunge to Nearly Year-Low, Dropping Below $3 in Some Areas

**Columbus, OH** – Ohioans are seeing some much-needed relief at the pump, with gas prices falling dramatically in recent weeks. The average price per gallon in the state is now $2.97, the lowest it’s been in almost a year.

This decline follows a national trend, with the national average dropping to $3.24. Experts attribute the price drops to decreased demand and falling oil costs.

“There are more and more gas stations east of the Rockies selling regular for under $3 a gallon,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “This means drivers will have more money in their wallets as autumn approaches.”

Ohio’s average gas price has dropped 17 cents in the past week alone, making it the state with the largest price decline in the nation. While this dip hasn’t landed Ohio in the top 10 cheapest states, prices in western Ohio are as low as $2.70 to $2.90 a gallon.

However, southeastern Ohio continues to experience the highest prices in the state, with average prices exceeding $3.06.

The state’s lowest gas prices are a stark contrast to June 2022 when the average price hit a record high of $5.07 per gallon.

The downward trend is positive news for Ohio drivers, who are seeing a significant decrease in fuel costs after a period of high prices.
