**Mhow, India:** Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the gang rape and robbery of two trainee army officers and a woman who accompanied them at the army firing range near Jamgate in Mhow. The arrests come after a police investigation which revealed the incident occurred on Wednesday night.

The main accused, identified as Anil Barod, is a police informer with alleged ties to Manipur Police and politicians. Barod, along with two others, Pawan Shrilal Bansunia and Ritesh Devesh Bhabhar, were apprehended earlier, while the remaining three – Rohit Gyan Singh Girwal, Sandeep Dinesh Baria, and Sachin Radheshyam – were arrested on Friday.

The police have recovered pistols, bikes, and stolen money from the accused. Further investigation revealed that Barod, who works at a liquor shop in Manipur, has a criminal history spanning eight years, including assaulting a police officer in 2021. Another accused, Ritesh, also has four cases against him related to murder, attempted murder, and rioting.

The police investigation suggests that the accused, Barod and Pawan, spotted the victims in a car around 11 pm on Wednesday night and kept them under surveillance for an hour before summoning their accomplices. They then assaulted the victims, robbed them of their belongings, and demanded more money. The accused subsequently gang-raped one of the two women.

The army has requested a report on the incident from the police, while the investigation is ongoing to determine how the trainee officers could leave their unit at midnight. The police are currently recording statements from the army officers.
