**Ile-Ife, Osun State** – A tragic accident involving a commercial bus and a gas tanker claimed the lives of five people in Ile-Ife on Thursday. The incident occurred along the Ibadan Express Road, near Ajebandele, when the tanker veered off the road and collided with the bus, crushing it.

According to Ibrahim Adekunle, spokesman for the Osun State Fire Service, the victims included two men, two women, and a toddler. They were all recovered from the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene. Their remains have been deposited at the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife.

The Osun State Fire Service, alongside the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and local residents, responded swiftly to the accident. Due to the presence of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) in the tanker, the fire service deployed additional resources to ensure the safety of responders and the surrounding area.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of road accidents and the importance of road safety precautions.
