Sat Sep 14 01:56:00 UTC 2024: ## Three Women Released After Arrest for Distributing Flyers Calling for Hostage Release
**Herzliya, Israel** – Three women were arrested on Friday for distributing flyers depicting hostages and Likud MK Yuli Edelstein as a “Prisoner of Zion” at the synagogue he frequents. The flyers called for the release of the hostages, who have been held captive for 343 days.
After six and a half hours of questioning, the women were released to five days of house arrest. Their lawyer, Ran Tagar, described the investigation as “very complicated” and sarcastically noted that the police had labeled the women “leaders of a crime organization” for merely distributing flyers.
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum expressed their disappointment, stating that “the police are being used as a tool by those who not only fail to act to bring back the 101 hostages…but also work actively to sabotage any potential deal and silence all discussion on the matter.”
The Forum emphasized the importance of supporting the hostages’ families and bringing them home, both those alive and those tragically murdered.
Meanwhile, Likud MK Yuli Edelstein has called for a strong response to Iranian aggression, stating in April that “If Israel doesn’t respond, Iran will think it can attack every week.” He stressed the need to prevent Iran from normalizing missile and drone attacks on Israel.
The women’s release has sparked debate about the role of protest and the government’s response to the ongoing hostage crisis. The Forum’s statement suggests a growing frustration with the perceived inaction of authorities, while Edelstein’s comments highlight the escalating tensions with Iran.
