Sat Sep 14 01:55:52 UTC 2024: ## Scooter Driver Seriously Injured in Manhattan Collision
**NEW YORK** – A 64-year-old scooter driver is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Chelsea, Manhattan, Friday afternoon. The accident occurred at approximately 2:58 PM when the scooter driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was traveling north on 10th Avenue. A grey Acura sedan turning left onto West 20th Street struck the scooter.
Witnesses, including a parking lot attendant named Diego, described the scene as chaotic. Diego stated he heard a loud “boom” and rushed to the scene. He found the scooter driver lying face up on the ground, unresponsive, with his scooter on its side.
The 48-year-old woman driving the Acura remained at the scene. Police have not made any arrests at this time.
The injured scooter driver was transported to Bellevue Hospital by EMS.
