Thu Sep 12 20:57:13 UTC 2024: ## Ishan Kishan Stars in India-C’s Dominant Day One Performance at Duleep Trophy
**Anantapur, September 13, 2024:** Ishan Kishan’s explosive century helped India-C dominate the first day of their Duleep Trophy second-round match against India-B at the Rural Development Trust stadium B-ground in Anantapur. Kishan, who wasn’t initially included in the India-C squad, smashed 111 runs off 126 balls, hitting 14 fours and 3 sixes.
The match marks the first-ever first-class encounter at the venue. Kishan’s innings were particularly impressive given the constant threat of short balls. He was dropped twice off successive deliveries in his thirties, but eventually overcame these setbacks to register a dominant performance.
He shared a 189-run partnership with Baba Indrajith, who also scored a valuable 78 runs. Indrajith was fortunate to be dropped off a no-ball but displayed his class with two elegant cover drives.
The innings began with Ruturaj Gaikwad, the skipper, retiring hurt after injuring his ankle while running. He returned after Kishan’s dismissal and looked to carry on the momentum.
India-C finished the day with a formidable score of 357/5, setting up a strong position for the remainder of the match. The match is currently being played without the Decision Review System (DRS).
