The Indian National Congress has declared 85 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, with the last list released late Wednesday night. The party has fielded a diverse group of candidates, including former youth leaders, sitting MLAs, and fresh faces.

Notable names include Sachin Kundu, former Haryana Youth Congress chief, who will contest from Panipat Rural, and Rohit Nagar, state youth wing spokesperson, who will stand from Tigaon. Randeep Surjewala’s son, Aditya, is also in the fray, contesting from Kaithal.

The party has released four lists so far, covering a majority of the 90 Assembly seats. With the nomination deadline approaching on September 12, the Congress aims to secure a victory in the single-phase elections on October 5. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.

The Congress’s candidate selection strategy reflects its efforts to appeal to diverse demographics and sections of the electorate. The party hopes to capitalize on this strategy to win a majority in the upcoming polls.
