**Los Angeles, CA** – Film Independent, the organization behind the Independent Spirit Awards, will host its annual **Film Independent Forum** on September 27th and 28th. This two-day event will bring together over 40 filmmakers from around the world for discussions on the evolving film industry, networking opportunities, and exclusive screenings.
**Opening with “Will & Harper” and Closing with “The Babadook”**
The Forum will kick off with a special screening of the road trip documentary “Will & Harper,” followed by a Q&A with producer/director Josh Greenbaum. The film will be released in select theaters on September 13th and will debut on Netflix on September 27th.
The event will close with a screening of the beloved horror film “The Babadook” in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Director Jennifer Kent will participate in a Q&A following the screening.
**Panels and Roundtables Focused on the Future of Filmmaking**
The Forum will feature a diverse range of programming, including panels on financing, pitching, creative producing, and the future of climate storytelling. A special roundtable discussion titled “The New Wave Actors,” will bring together rising stars Tati Gabrielle, James Ian, Mayan Lopez, Richa Moorjani, and Lisa Yamada to discuss breaking boundaries and creating more authentic and inclusive onscreen representation.
**Global Media Makers and Industry Connect**
Film Independent’s Global Media Makers (GMM) Residency will also be featured at the Forum. Nine Fellows from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe will participate in mentorship programs and the second annual GMM Summit, which will unite 25 Fellows from 16 countries to foster global collaborations.
The event will also offer one-on-one meetings with executives and industry experts through the Industry Connect program.
